Whale Watching Captain :

Job Description

Zodiac Captain/Marine Naturalist.
We are looking for a Responsible and Conservative Zodiac Driver. Experience in the industry is benefical but we will train the right person. Must have excellent communication skills and a vast knowledge of the Southern Vancouver Island Waterways and marine life.

Training and Certifications Needed

Small Vessel Operators - S.V.O.P. :

For operators of small commercial vessels, this Transport Canada course provides information on regulations, seamanship, marine weather, charts and navigation, collision regulations and small vessel stability. Offered at Camosun College - Registration and Information

Marine Emergency Duties

MED A2 - Small Vessel Safety

Covering both MED A1 and MED A2 Levels, this 4 day Transport Canada approved course is designed to provide skippers of smaller commercial vessels and other seafarers with various safety related skills associated with small commercial boat operation and ensuring the safety of passengers.

ROC-MC :

The course for the Restricted Operator's Certificate - Maritime Commercial (ROC-MC) is presently being offered at Camosun College .

Naturalist Training :

Must have a great understanding of our local wildlife and knowledge of the local waters surrounding Southern Vancouver Island.

Marine First Aid or Wilderness First Aid

On the Water Training :

All drivers must have 60 hours of on water training in the southern Vancouver Island region.

Transport Canada Small Vessel Operators Proficiency :

The S.V.O.P. will be needed for the 2010 season for small passenger vessels.
