Originally from Ireland, Jane relocated to British Columbia in 2018 to pursue her lifelong dream of working with whales in the wild. Her fascination with marine life began at a young age when she first saw killer whales on a nature documentary. She also had the good fortune throughout her childhood of visiting a well-known friendly bottlenose dolphin named Fungie, who resided close to a harbour off the south coast of Ireland – a very special circumstance. These early connections led her to where she is now.
Jane started working for Ocean Ecoventures in 2021 and quickly felt like she was part of the family. She loves working with like-minded, passionate, and conservation-focused individuals she can also call great friends. She also loves meeting people from all over the world and introducing them to the beautiful Salish Sea, and educating them about the marine mammals encountered on her tours.
When not working for Ocean Ecoventures, Jane can be found working on a research vessel conducting whale surveys on the northern coast of BC.
