Tasli was born and raised in British Columbia, and has been curious about whales her whole life. She has been working on whale watching boats on the Salish Sea as both a naturalist and captain since 2010, and still sees each encounter with marine mammals as a precious opportunity to learn more about them.
When not running tours for Ocean Ecoventures, she spends her time identifying humpback whale flukes as project lead for Humpback Whales of the Salish Sea, participating in marine mammal surveys with Department of Fisheries and Oceans Canada, and working with Bay Cetology to monitor the Bigg’s Killer Whale population. When whale sightings aren’t distracting her, she also likes to draw and paint whales, often turning her designs into stickers (which she also collects with enthusiasm).
