Originally from Germany, Vicky always dreamed of becoming a marine biologist, inspired by her love of marine mammals—and, like many, the film Free Willy, which first sparked her desire to move to Canada. Her path initially led her into tourism, including a summer job in the Yukon in 2014 that turned into several years living and working in Whitehorse, a place she still considers her Canadian home.
After the pandemic, Vicky pivoted into operations and marketing, but never lost sight of her goal to work in ocean conservation. In 2023, she joined Ocean Wise’s Whales Initiative team in Prince Rupert, where she supported research on humpback whales and quickly fell in love with BC’s North Coast.
In 2025, Vicky made the move to Vancouver Island and recently joined Ocean Ecoventures in the office. She now combines her background in tourism and operations with her passion for marine life, helping create unforgettable experiences for guests. If not in the office, you’ll find her training on the water, working toward becoming a captain, or exploring her new home with her two dogs.
